The biggest attraction in the area is, of course, Glacier National Park. With 1,583 square miles inside the park boundaries, there are endless activities for visitors to choose from.
Going-to-the-Sun Road
One of the biggest attractions inside Glacier National Park is Going-to-the-Sun road. Completed in 1932, it is about 50 miles long and takes approximately two hours to drive the full length one way, and without stops, from the West Glacier entrance on the west side of the park to the Saint Mary Visitor Center on the east side. Since you will undoubtedly be making several stops along the way to view attractions along the road, be sure to allocate a full day for this activity. The full length of Going-to-the-Sun road is open seasonally, so check road status on Glacier National Park’s Road Status webpage when planning your trip. Even if Going-to-the-Sun Road is not fully open during the time you plan to visit, don’t despair! There are still many other park attractions to see.

Red Bus Tours
An amazing way to see Going-to-the-Sun Road where you can leave the driving up to someone else so you can soak in the scenery is to take a Red Bus tour. These vintage 1930’s “jammers” have roll back tops which allow passengers to stand up at each stop along the way and get an unobstructed view of the surrounding area. Tours range from 1/2 day to a full day, and are seasonal. Check the Red Bus Tour website for schedules and pricing.
Take a Hike!
With over 700 miles of hiking trails of varying length and difficulty levels, you can spend weeks hiking Glacier National Park and still never see it all. See Glacier National Park’s Hiking information webpage for more information on area hikes.
